Specialized treatment

INR Balance Program+ Developed in 2008 by Douglas Weiss DPT, this program is based on the latest medical and rehabilitation research. A unique program that has been shown to be highly effective in anyone who is falling, unsteady, or having difficulty walking. The program incorporates treadmill training with an overhead harness, virtual reality balance training, obstacle course negotiation, and a variety of balance challenge activities. This program is not available at any other physical therapy clinic except Island Neuro Rehab’s 4 locations.

INR Stroke Rehabilitation+ Our stroke program is based on the latest stroke research. What makes our program different is the focus on rehabilitation through challenges and walking rather than sitting exercises and machines. Patient’s in this program will receive gait training, walking challenges on a treadmill with harness, multiple balance challenges, resisted balance challenges, and obstacle avoidance training. This program is an adaptation of our INR balance program specifically for sufferers of strokes.

Parkinson’s Program+ Those suffering from Parkinson’s and other movement disorders have a unique set of challenges. Our Parkinson’s program consists of activities proven through research to reduce falls, improve the quality of your walking, increase balance, and increase function with the home and in the community. As with our other protocols, we use a treadmill with harness and specific “walking challenges” along with a constantly changing course of balance exercises. We work closely with several Parkinson’s specialists to provide a “whole person” approach to rehabilitation.

Geriatric Conditioning+ Much of our experience is with a geriatric population. All of our clinicians are experts in treating older patients and helping them progress to independence. We believe that no person is “too old” to not only recover but also make progress. We can improve your balance, prevent falls, teach you to walk again, help you get rid of your walker, and become more independent.

Orthopedic Rehab+ Our therapists have years of experience in treating orthopedic inuries and post orthopedic surgery care. We can provide full rehabilitation for any orthopedic injury including sports injuries, fractures, tendonitis, bursitis, chronic pain, arthritis and osteoporosis. We utilize a wide variety of exercise and manual therapy techniques including Mckenzie, Maitland, Strain-Counterstrain, and many other hands-on techniques to reduce your pain and get you “back to normal”.

Pain Management+ We use the latest in manual therapy and modalities such as laser, electrical stimulation to reduce your pain and exercise science to help you progress back to a pain free life. We do not say “No pain, no gain”, but instead work with you to find the best exercise and modality program to help you return to your previous activities in the fastest recovery time possible.
